When you pack your clothes, you’re strategic about what you’ll bring and how you wrap, roll and place your items. Same logic applies with your electronics.
☞ You need to organize them, make sure you’ll be able to plug them to the wall of your destination, make sure you can use your phone abroad, make sure it’s powered all the time, make sure it’s well equipped and bonus: make sure you can access the internet from back home.

Electronics organizers (pouches, grids)
☞ I made my own organizing grid, but if you’re in a hurry amazon has great options.
☞ Alternatively, a pouch might be a better fit for you, this one is nice and sleek.
Adapters
☞ If you have Apple products, I suggest you get their adapters (mine have lasted a good 8 years).
☞ If not, I recently got this one for Europe and it was all I needed to bring.
A sim card
☞ Nowadays, you can create a virtual sim card, yes legally (Do you want a post about that?) How awesome is that!
☞ If you prefer, you may try to order a physical SIM card to your door.
☞ It’s very likely you’ll have to buy it on location. Check the first electronic shop or corner store you find at the airport or once you reach your destination.
An external charger
☞ These are real lifesavers, especially when you travel. Our smartphones are our everything: camera, map, translator, entertainment, social life, lifeline to civilization …
☞ I suggest buying one that has at least the capacity for two full recharges. My current one is an Anker power bank, it can recharge my iPhone SE 2020 up to 4 times. I’ve had it over two years and it’s performed perfectly.
☞ When shopping for yours, look at:
- weight;
- size;
- recharging capacity;
- but most importantly, the mA/h must be visible on the power bank block. If it isn’t, the most likely result is the airport confiscating it—and you crying.
Phone gear
- Download essential travel apps
- city guides
- Google map areas
- apps for local transportation (trains, boats, domestic flight companies)
- taxi app
- bike rental app
- local social media app
- local e-payment app
- local transit app
- Smartphone photography gear
- selfie stick
- lenses kit
- tripod
- Smartphone dry bag
- if you go to the beach, a water park, a pool, you will need this
Bonus: get a VPN
☞ Depending where you go on the planet, you might need this for your electronics to be able to access the internet normally and function properly.
☞ Check this post I wrote to read my recommendations.
