Quick synopsis
- Assassination Classroom is about a strange creature that gets assigned to teach a class of left-to-rot students. His mission teach them. Their mission, kill him before he destroys their world.
- The stakes are high, but the mood is light. The genre is comical sci-fi manga.
- It showcases through humour the absurd but often true realities of many teachers.
Why you should read it?
- The teacher, Kurosensei, is highly invested in his class’ success and involves himself deeply with the students.
- Kurosensei exemplifies in the most absurd ways how a teacher splits themselves to give every student the help and support they need specific to their struggle.
- It’s an allegory of how the system burdens both the educator and the learner with its ridiculous standards (particular to Asia, but not unknown in western societies).
- It’s an ode to how hard but necessary the profession is. I mean look at this drawing of the character ΰ² _ΰ² He’s an octopus π A teacher is a multitasker, you have to be multi-limbed just to offer decent education to the average young mind.

β If you want to read something, be entertained, but not have your brain melt, mangas are a great medium to explore. They are rarely kid friendly and you can always expect deep wisdom to lurk underneath the seemingly simplistic drawings.
β The series is 21 volumes long. It will be a great companion to carry you emotionally through deadlines and tough days in front of the classroom. Is it time to treat yourself already ππ
