Story

When you teach second languages in a foreign country, you might learn a word or two from the students.

I find it incredibly fun to play these tricks on them as a way to get back their attention or to create a different rhythm in the class if the routine gets boring.

Joking around also helps build rapport between you and them, once you’ve established a solid discipline. Otherwise they might get too confortable with you.

One thing particular to playing around with their own native language is you show interest in their culture. You also show that anyone can learn any language.

It’s not just about messing with their heads 😉
