VPN stands for Virtual Private Network and they have multiple advantages. I personally lived several years in China, so I couldn’t interact with the West (family and friends) without the use of one. I also couldn’t access knowledge because certain websites (like Wikipedia) are blocked there. It seriously made me reflect on the freedom of access to information and the privilege we have in the globalized north. So if you need a VPN, read on further to see what worked for me.

Why have a VPN
Recommendations

Here are some brands I’ve personally used in China and why I recommend them.

➤ Astrill VPN

  • This the first VPN I used
  • It was stable at first
  • It offers many servers
  • Unfortunately it started being a shaky connection

➤ Express VPN

  • This became my go to after Astrill
  • It was much more stable
  • It had a team constantly alert of changes in censorship
  • The team is quick at updating and helping its users with issues
  • But it was a little expensive

➤ Nord VPN

Conclusion
